Head, Music Library
Jennifer Ottervik has been Head of the USC Music Library since 1996. She attended the University of North Texas, earning a B.A. in Piano, an M.S. in Library Science, and an M.M. in Musicology. In addition to being a tenured librarian, she serves as Adjunct Professor in the Schools of Music and Library and Information Science. She teaches graduate courses MUSC707 (Bibliography & Research), MUSC747 (Advanced Research), SLIS744 (Music Librarianship), and has taught SCCC467c (The Collision of Musical Cultures: African-American Music in the New World) for the Honors College.
Jennifer has been Editor of the Taylor & Francis peer-reviewed journal Music Reference Services Quarterly since 2003. She was appointed Placement Officer for the Music Library Association in 2003, a position she held through 2007. In 1997, she was recipient of MLA’s Walter Gerboth Award and its "Best of Chapters" Award in 1999 for her research and subsequent paper entitled "Jazz in Opera: It Ain't Over til the Fat Lady Swings." She has served on MLA's Personnel, Publications, Marketing, and Membership committees.

Music Librarian for Audio and Digital Services
Ashlie Conway attended Troy University (Troy, AL) where she received her bachelor’s degree in instrumental music education. She attended the University of South Carolina, where she earned a Master’s degree in music education. In December 2007, she completed a second master’s degree in library and information science, specializing in music librarianship. She joined the library faculty in January of 2008.
She is a member of the Association for Recorded Sound Collections (ARSC), the Music Library Association (MLA), and its Southeast chapter (SEMLA). In 2006, Ashlie was awarded SEMLA's travel grant to attend the annual conference. In 2009, Ashlie was awarded the travel grant to attend the ARSC annual meeting in Washington, DC.
Ashlie is responsible for the Music Library's webpages, digital collections, and special collections processing and digitization.
