Windows Update Help

Windows updates are critical to making sure your computer remains secure and stable. There is more than one way to get your updates too.

Manually Updating

To manually update your computer click on the Start button and go up to Windows Update.

You'll get the above window on your screen. Click on Scan for updates. After a few moments you'll get a summary screen like this...

Click on the left where it says Critcal Updates and Service Packs. On the right will appear a list of updates. Find the Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 update and click remove. Do not run any Driver Updates. Windows 2000 updates are optional, but are not required. When you are ready click on Review and Install Updates then Install Now. Depending on the update and network speed it may take several minutes for the process to complete. When the update is done reboot your computer.

Automatic Updating

If you would prefer your computer to automaticly update itself you can easily set it up. Just go to your Control Panel by clicking on Start then Settings and Control Panel. In the control panel look for Automatic Updates and open that control panel. You should see the following window...

If you wish your system to automaticly update adjust your settings to match the screen above. When you are done just click OK. NOTE: Automatic Update will not install Windows 2000 Service Pack 4.
