MINIMAL-LEVEL NOTIS RECORDS

The Acquisitions Department creates several types of minimal-level (brief) records in NOTIS:

  1. Records to be used for cataloging when there is no appropriate record in OCLC.

These are the only Acquisitions minimal-level records which we edit. On the Copy Holdings Record they are coded STATUS a (for in process) or STATUS h.

Other minimal-level records used only by the Acquisitions Department are:

  1. Blanket Order records
  2. Membership records
  3. Series Standing Order records

These three categories are used for acquisitions processes such as claiming. All three have the following characteristics:

On the Bibliographic Record: D/S S (to suppress the record in OPAC) DT/1 ???? On the Copy Holdings Record: STATUS c (not to be cataloged)
