In Process Materials

Patrons fill out in Process forms and turn them in to Circulation.

Circulation brings forms to Caroline Ogburn. If the request is truly Rush and Caroline is not available, other Cataloging staff may be called upon to locate and catalog the item.

Variation: Reference or Circulation sometimes has a patron who wishes to briefly peruse an uncataloged item. In such cases, a staff member will bring the patron to Caroline or other appropriate Cataloging staff. The patron will peruse the item in the Cataloging Department and/or turn in an "In Process" form to Circulation if they wish to check out the item after it has been cataloged.

If a patron needs to photocopy part of a book, Cataloging staff may briefly hold their current USC i.d. while the patron goes to a public photocopier.
