Locations - Government Documents
Books cataloged for the Documents Department are reference books used by the
Documents staff in servicing the documents collection. Although some of the documents
collection reference books are classified using the Superintendent of Documents
classification, the reference books which the Cataloging Department processes are
always classified with Library of Congress classification. These books DO NOT
CIRCULATE, but are barcoded.
The Documents staff is responsible for maintenance of the tapeloaded GPO records
through editing and deleting.
Area Designation:
- Docs is used above the call number on the title-page and spine label. Ref is not used
as a part of the call number on the record, title-page, or spine label.
- Code for OCLC 049 field: SUCD
- NOTIS Copy Holdings Record location code: cl,d
- In the Copy Statement of the Copy Holdings Record, the Classification Type Code is L
for those materials classified in LC and S for those materials classified in
Superintendent of Documents.
