The Promising Investigator Research Award (PIRA) is provided by the Office of Research to encourage tenure-track faculty to develop individual research projects leading to the pursuit of external funding and or the promotion of scholarly activities. This year, the PIRA program is offering two distinct tracks.

Track I
Funds will be considered "seed" monies and will be awarded to faculty with the stated objective of enhancing the competitiveness of a subsequent submission of a new proposal for external funding.

Track II
Funds will be awarded to faculty who have had positive reviews on recent extramural applications. The application should be for a specific plan to strengthen the application for re-submission.

Proposals must be submitted before 5:00 pm on November 15, 2010 through (USCERA and approved by your chair, dean and/or chancellor.
