Career Development Requirement
The Career Center component is one of the "required common course content areas and approaches" for all sections of University 101. The Career Center uses this component to accomplish two objectives:
- Objective One: To make students new to USC aware of a resource area on campus that can assist them from pre-entry through post-graduation with a variety of career needs.
- Objective Two: To introduce a career decision-making process to students during their first year to help them begin important long-range planning necessary for successful transition into graduate school or the world of work.
Note:
1. Classes will be scheduled individually; and
2.
Instructors will have a choice of two presentations:
A. Career Decision-making, Challenges of Workplace; Overview of Career Center and Services; Resources for Resume Writing; Introduction to JobMate (job posting system) and Career Center Tour
B. Abbreviated form of Presentation Option A, but add Strong Interest Inventory Interpretation
