All University 101 Peer Leaders are required to complete a one-day Peer Leader Training Workshop prior to serving in the classroom. During these training sessions, peer leaders engage in activities that help prepare them for teaching a University 101 class with their instructor.  Peer leaders are afforded the opportunity, through these workshops, to learn effective ways of connecting with the first-year students in their class as well as being prepared to offer these students insight and advice on how they too can become successful college students.

Peer leaders will find this workshop both engaging and informative.  The agenda of the workshop is constantly revised and promises equal parts participation and instruction.  A highlight of this workshop is the Peer Leader Panel, where former University 101 Peer Leaders join the workshop to field questions from the current workshop participants.  This proves most helpful as new peer leaders in training are afforded the chance to interact with former peer leaders and can learn both successes and recommendations from previous classes of those participating in the program.
