15 Passenger Vans
Due to the increased rollover risk associated with the use of 15-passenger vans, the University of South Carolina Departments of Vehicle Management and Risk Management have initiated the following policies:
Children 12th grade and under may not be transported in a University/State 15-passenger van.
All 15-passenger van drivers must be 21 years of age or older.
No University driver will be authorized to operate a 15-passenger van until he or she has completed the driver training that is offered by the University. See below for more information on this training
The original memo issued by Risk Management and Parking Services can be found here as a PDF document (requires Acrobat plugin).
All University drivers must complete a behind-the-wheel training course in order to drive University or State 15 Passenger Vans. Below are instructions on how to register for the training.
15 PASSENGER VAN TRAINING REGISTRATION :
Please contact Rick Evans at Evansrg@mailbox.sc.edu with the names and email addresses of whoever is to receive the training. Each individual will receive an email from Vehicle Management with all of the instructions and requirements needed to obtain approval to drive a 15 passenger van.
Individuals are not approved to drive until Vehicle Management has received a copy of the driving record (see driver authorization) AND the behind-the-wheel training session has been completed.
Questions can be directed to Rick Evans at Evansrg@mailbox.sc.edu.
