This workshop is a fun exploration of items around your home that can be transformed into assistive technology solutions. Assistive technology devices can be very expensive, but some don’t always have to be. The fundamentals of appropriately selecting and the functional use of various assistive technology devices will be demonstrated. For example: an adapted computer mouse or a switch creates another method for working on skills related to cause-and-effect, language, social interaction, motor, positioning and much more!
The workshop will conclude with a make-and-take opportunity for participants to choose from different projects to construct and then take the finished project(s) home. New this year is the opportunity to make your own switch adapted computer USB mouse, iPad/iPod stylus holder, and an iPad/iPhone stand. Returning this year is the opportunity to make an adaptive switch using old CDs that you can use right away with a battery operated toy! The instructions and materials are simple and no messy soldering is needed.
This training is in the Assistive Technology Resource Center, so no food or drink please.
This workshop has a maximum of 15 participants.
