2022 Alumni and Dean's Distinguished Service Awards Ceremony and Dinner
Twenty-two individuals will be recognized for their contributions to the healthcare
field and their service to the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Columbia
at the 2022 Alumni and Dean's Distinguished Service Awards Ceremony and Dinner, which
will be held on Thurs., Oct. 27, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at City Market Place in downtown
Commencement & Hooding 2022
Each May, the School of Medicine Columbia hosts hooding ceremonies for eligible certificate,
master's, and doctoral students.
SOMC Tree Lighting
Students, Faculty and Staff are invited to a festive kickoff of the winter holidays!
Turn on the lights while enjoying cookies and hot cocoa with the Dean and colleagues!

2021 White Coat Ceremony
The MD Classes of 2024 and 2025 had their White Coat ceremonies on October 1, 2021
at 3 PM and 5:30 PM, respectively, at Segra Park.
2021 School of Medicine Columbia Awards Recipients Named
Nineteen individuals will be recognized for their contributions to the health care
field and their service to the School of Medicine Columbia at the annual Alumni and
Dean's Awards Virtual Ceremony on Thursday, October 21st. Two additional categories
of achievement will be acknowledged: the Luminary Leaders in Medicine and Science
and the Award for Advancement of Women in Science and Medicine.
State of the School Address
Dean Les Hall delivered a virtual State of the School of Medicine Columbia address
on September 22, 2021 at 6:00 PM.
All within our School of Medicine family and our community have been deeply affected
by recent events that highlight ongoing racism within our society. As a school of
medicine, we must acknowledge these issues serve as barriers to achieving a just society,
and exercise our responsibility to be part of the solution.
