The Research Center for Transforming Health, which is based in the University of South
Carolina School of Medicine Columbia, recently announced the 2021 Transformative Research
Seed Grant awardees.
We're #1: UofSC SOMC Tops Ranking for Graduates in Underserved Areas
The 2022 US News and World Report graduate school rankings were released on March
30, and the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Columbia was ranked #1 for the percent of graduates practicing in medically underserved areas! Read an article outlining all of the university’s graduate school rankings.
On March 19, 2021, we had 99 students match into residency programs. Nearly a third
of the Class of 2021 will remain in South Carolina with many accepted into programs
at Prisma Health. Also, as in prior years, the percentage of our students pursuing
residencies in primary care specialties is above the national average (44% vs. 39%

School of Medicine Columbia leadership will host a virtual town hall to address
COVID-19 testing and vaccines on January 12 (Tuesday) from 6 to 7 p.m. The town hall is open to all SOMC community members and will be hosted via WebEX.
