The program features two academic courses amounting to four credit hours. One, entitled Comparative Legal Institutions, is a 1-1/2 credit-hour course taught by Professor McWilliams. The other, entitled Comparative Environmental Law, is a 2-1/2 credit-hour course taught by Professor Richardson. These courses are taught on the premises of The Honourable Society of Gray’s Inn, located near the Law Courts in the Bloomsbury neighborhood of central London. Gray’s Inn is one of the four London Inns of Court that manage the justice system of England and Wales. The courses normally meet on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings. Arrangements are made for visits to London legal sites such as Westminster Palace (the Houses of Parliament), the Law Courts, and the other Inns of Court. Gray’s Inn trains barristers, and formal interaction between our students and the Gray’s Inn student barristers includes dinners ‘in Hall’ in the Inn’s 16th-Century Great Hall, attendance at the annual Gray’s Inn Moot Final, and a debate (in which the School of Law team has a very strong record).
