UofSC has partnered with Habitat for Humanity for the third time and are in need of volunteers for the next project.

Each spring, University Housing holds the "Give It Up for Good" yard sale, and the proceeds from this year's event are being used to build a house from the ground up. The future homeowner has three children and works a full-time and part-time job, and still managed to complete all the requirements for the Habitat for Humanity program.

The home is going to be built at 4409 Palmetto Ave., Columbia.

Volunteers from UofSC will be working alongside volunteers from co-sponsors Shandon United Methodist and Schneider Electric. All volunteers should wear closed-toed shoes and bring water. Snacks will be provided, but if volunteers sign up for more than one shift in a day, they should bring lunch or prepare to go off site to buy food.

There are only five spaces available for UofSC volunteers during each shift. If the co-sponsors don't fill their volunteer slots, there could be room for more volunteers from the university.

Please contact Maragret Bounds for more information.

All UofSC faculty, staff and students are eligible to volunteer.

The First Nail Ceremony will be held Sept. 28 and building will continue through the semester. There will be a break in building beginning in October.
