Suicide Prevention Week is Sept. 7-12,  and UofSC has set up events to educate students, faculty and staff on mental health and suicide prevention.

Mental health information and suicide prevention materials will be at the Farmer's Market on Sept. 8 from 9:30 am to 1:30 p.m. Student Health Services will be handing out fun, positive and encouraging mental health messages messages from Counseling and Psychiatry. Also, there will be a poster board for people to write what they do for their own mental health and self care.

Dennis Gillan will give a speech entitled, Resiliency: Coping Through Loss, where he will focus on seeking help, talking to others, accessing support and resiliency. The event will be in the Russell House Theater on Sept. 8 at 8 p.m.

Suicide prevention training will be held on Sept. 9 from 9 to 11:30 am in Russell House 203.

More information and resources on suicide prevention is available on the Student Health Services website.
