From living and learning communities to international institutes, UofSC students can
access a range of multicultural experiences, programs and activities through the university.
The Confucius Institute, established in 2008, is a joint program between the Beijing Language and Culture
University and the University of South Carolina. The nonprofit promotes Chinese language
education, as well as educational, cultural and business exchanges between South Carolina
The Fulbright Program is the flagship international educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S.
government. The program is designed to increase mutual understanding between the people
of the United States and the people of other countries.
International House at Maxcy College
International House is a university living and learning community where students live with, take classes
with and learn from students from all over the world. Outside the classroom, residents
enjoy unique multicultural experiences such as visiting scholars, cooking demonstrations,
language classes and more.
The Walker Institute is a program of six undergraduate minors that explore world cultures, histories, languages and politics. The institute also offers scholarships and funding for both graduate and undergraduate research and travel.
