Biography
Leanna Herbert (she/her) is a Rhetoric and Composition PhD student at the University of South Carolina. Her interests include the role and space of reading in the composition classroom, multimodal pedagogy, the uses of adapted texts in teaching, and critical, digital literacy. As a graduate instructor, Leanna teaches courses on critical reading, research, and writing. Her special sections of English have included “Sci-Fi and the Campus” and “Environmental Writing and Rhetoric.” Leanna has worked with the Irvin Department of Rare Books as a Teaching Fellow and as project manager for Project SHARE at USC’s Institute for Southern Studies, a primary source transcription and database project.

Before pursuing her MA and PhD at USC, Leanna taught English in Spain, planned and facilitated educational programs in non-profits, and worked in independent bookstores. When not reading about reading, Leanna enjoys reading eclectic fiction, gardening, birding, live music, or taking her dog, Florence, on walks.
