Dr. Jessica Barnes wins Howard Foundation fellowship

The fellowship provides Dr. Barnes with the opportunity to develop her book project on wheat and bread in Egypt

Dr. Jessica Barnes has been awarded one of eight prestigious George A. and Eliza Gardner Howard Foundation fellowships for the 2017-2018 academic year. The award's recipients represent the fields of Archaeology, Anthropology, and Photography. Dr. Barnes will use the fellowship to continue developing her second book project, Making Bread: The Cultural Politics of Food Security and Wheat Self-Sufficiency in Egypt. This project follows on from Dr. Barnes' first project that examined everday water politics along the Nile River titled Cultivating the Nile: The Everyday Politics of Water in Egypt. Learn more about Dr. Barnes's research.
