Huixuan Li receives Vernberg Fellowship

Award to support research at the Baruch Marine Field Lab

Huixuan Li, a Ph.D. student in geography, has been announced as the recipient of the 2018 F. John Vernberg Bicentennial Fellowship in Marine Science sponsored by Baruch Institute, at the University of South Carolina. This prestigious fellowship includes a $1,000 financial award to support her dissertation research at the Baruch Marine Field Lab.

The award is given in the name of Dr. John Vernberg, who in 1969 became the director of the newly formed Belle W. Baruch Institute for Marine and Coastal Sciences and developed it into a world class research Institute during his 27 years as its head. His scientific contributions helped advance numerous aspects of the marine ecology and coastal sciences fields, and his pioneering efforts promoted and expanded the concept of sustainable resource management within and beyond the state of South Carolina.

Congratulations to Huixuan!
