Aretakis

The Jewish Studies Program at UofSC is thrilled to announce that Catharine Aretakis,  a minor in Jewish Studies, received a Fulbright Award to the Netherlands for the 2020-2021 academic year.
For the past year, Catharine has been conducting research about the fate of Black Germans and mixed-race children in Europe during the Holocaust for her Honors Thesis under the direction of Dr. Saskia Coenen-Snyder (Jewish Studies/History). She will use her Fulbright grant to complete a Master’s program in Holocaust and Genocide Studies at the University of Amsterdam.
Catharine plans on continuing her research about underrepresented victims of the Holocaust also as part of her graduate track and future career. She is looking forward to spending a year in the Netherlands working with primary sources and with international scholars to gain new perspectives on her field.

Challenge the conventional. Create the exceptional. No Limits.
