Summer and Fall Registration Message from PMBA director

PMBA Students,

Registration for the summer and fall terms is coming up soon. Graduate student time tickets will begin on Monday, April 4. Please check Self Service Carolina to view your time ticket and see exactly when you will be able to register. I have provided some information below to help prepare you for the registration process.

Registration information such as course schedules, syllabi and add/drop dates can be found on Blackboard.

New Specializations
The PMBA program is introducing two specializations this fall — one in human resources management and another in operations and supply chain management. These specializations will mostly leverage existing elective courses but will also likely result in a few new electives being offered in the future.

New Courses

  • FINA 767: Real Estate Finance will be offered on Wednesdays in Summer II. This course will count toward the PMBA program’s finance specialization.
  • IBUS 705: Global Business Management will be offered on Wednesdays in Fall I. IBUS 705 will replace the IBUS 703: International Management course that has historically been taught by Professor Tatiana Kostova in Fall I.
  • MGMT 775: Competitive Strategy Analysis is a new course that is required for the Graduate Certificate in Strategic Innovation. This course will last for the entire summer term and will meet on three Saturdays (May 21, June 18 and July 23).
  • MGSC 873: Service Operations Management will be offered on Mondays in Fall II. This course will count towards the PMBA program’s operations and supply chain management specialization.

Course Changes

  • FINA 756: Financial Statement Analysis will be offered on Mondays during Fall II. In prior years, it was offered in Spring I, but we anticipate it being offered in Fall II moving forward.
  • FINA 746: Risk Management will NOT be offered in Fall II 2022. We anticipate it being offered Spring I from now on, starting with 2023. Essentially, FINA 746 and FINA 756 are swapping places.
  • MGMT 726: HR and Business Strategy was originally scheduled to be offered on Saturdays in Spring II but will now be offered on Wednesday evenings in Summer II. It has yet to be determined whether future offerings of this course will be in spring or summer. This course will count towards the PMBA program’s human resources management specialization.
  • MGMT 701: Human Resources and the Global Firm will move from Fall I to Fall II this year.

Course Overrides
If a course you would like to register for is full, please reach out to Quinn Jacob to inquire about an override. Please do not contact the instructor directly to request an override into their course.

Registration Holds
Please check my.sc.edu to ensure that you do not have any holds that will prevent you from registering for classes. If you do have a hold and are unsure how to resolve it, please reach out to Quinn Jacob.

Advising Appointments
Quinn Jacob is available to meet with students and answer questions about registration, specializations, PMBA program progression, etc. Schedule an appointment for academic advising.

Tuition Payment
Please pay close attention to tuition payment deadlines for summer and fall. Complete information may be found on the UofSC Bursar's Office website. Students who have not paid in full or enrolled in a payment plan by the payment deadline will have their class schedule canceled and will need to request reinstatement. If you enroll in a course for the first 7-week term and then separately register for a course in the second 7-week term after the initial payment deadline, you must make payment arrangements for the second course immediately. If payment is delayed, your entire class scheduled will be canceled, and you will be dropped from all courses.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me.

Regards,

John P. Jones
