Commonly Asked Questions about Academic Advising in the Darla Moore School of Business

WHO advises students in my college? 

Professional staff advise in this school. All incoming freshmen students are assigned to first-year professional staff advisors. 

HOW do I know who my Moore School advisor is? 

Freshmen students can view their advisor's information on their registration checklist in Self-Service Carolina or by viewing their degree audit in DegreeWorks.

Rising sophomores will receive an email from the Moore School describing how they will choose an advisor for their sophomore year and beyond in the summer before their sophomore year.

HOW do I schedule an appointment with my advisor? 

Easy! You can schedule an appointment online by logging in to the EAB Pathfinder system. 

WHEN does formal advisement occur each semester in the Moore School?

Advisement for the Fall semester typically begins mid-September and lasts through mid-November. 

Advisement for the Spring semester typically begins in early to mid February and lasts through early to mid April. 

Drop-In Hours

In addition to scheduled appointments, academic advisors in the Moore School are available by phone, email, or weekly drop-in hours. Drop in hours vary based on a student's classification (freshmen vs. upperclassmen). Contact the Undergraduate Division by phone at 803-777-2191 or visit their Facebook page for weekly drop-in times. 

 

Changing Majors into the Moore School

Students interested in changing majors into the Darla Moore School of Business must submit an application for admission to the Moore School. The application is available in January of each year and must be submitted no later than March 1 of that year.  All students who are admitted will begin in either the Summer or Fall semester after acceptance. Admission into the Moore School is highly competitive and not guaranteed. 

Students must also meet certain GPA, credit hour, and coursework requirements in order to gain admission into the Moore School. If you are interested in applying to the Moore School, meet with a Major Change Advisor to see if you meet all necessary requirements.
