At the beginning of spring semester, ACE Coaches and residence life staff hold individual meetings with residential students who had academic difficulties during the fall semester.
Goals for Academic Recovery
- Provide personal attention to all students identified as academically deficient
- Identify and assess barriers to the academic success of students who are struggling academically.
- Provide these students with strategies and resources to aid in their academic success
- Make appropriate referrals to academic resources and other student services
- Increase student retention and graduation rates
Who receives an Academic Recovery ACE Session?
Sessions are conducted with students who have a low GPA at the beginning of the spring semester. A low GPA is defined by the University as a 2.0. However, for students who live in certain communities it is a bit higher: Honors College: 2.75, Capstone Scholars: 2.75, Preston Residential College: 2.5, Teaching Fellows: 2.75
Students will receive a letter in mid-January notifying them of an academic recovery appointment.
