THE USC CAMPUS
From the inaugural class of nine students served by two faculty members, from the dawn of the 19th century, from the original Rutledge Hall on the Historic Horseshoe, the Columbia campus of the University of South Carolina has grown to serve more than 29,000 students with classrooms, laboratories, offices, residential sites, athletics and performance venues, wellness facilities and extensive green spaces that contribute to your complete educational experience.
Feels Like Home
No matter how large our campus or how many people benefit from the USC experience, you'll feel right at home in our friendly neighborhood. We offer mind-expanding possibilities enhanced with personal attention, comfortably small communities and warm Southern hospitality. You'll love it here!
Safe and Secure
As you live and study with us, your safety is our priority. USC's professional law enforcement and safety staff members cover the campus, patrolling 24/7, monitoring closed-circuit cameras and responding to your concerns. In addition to the security provided by the campus-wide Carolina Alert notification system and your individual ID card, you'll find emergency call boxes located across campus. Evening safety escort services are just a phone call away. Our full-time Crime Prevention and Community Relations officer shares tips, training presentations and other resources to help you stay safe at USC.
