General Education provides the common core of knowledge, skill, and academic experience required for all Carolina undergraduates.
General Education offers students broad exposure to the liberal arts and sciences and secures the foundation for subsequent specialized study in the student's major discipline area.
All University system faculty, staff and students are encouraged to learn more about the new Carolina Core Curriculum, the revised General Education curriculum.

November 1, 2011 Update
The Provost invites submission of course proposals for the new Carolina Core. Electronic course proposal submission is available and will improve the efficiency of academic program administration. Click here when you are ready to submit your proposal.
All courses for the Carolina Core need to be submitted by November 2012 based on our new academic planning calendar (click here to see more). Current University general education courses will be grandfathered in until December 2012 (click here to learn more). Grandfathered courses not approved for use in the Carolina Core by December 2012 will no longer meet general education/Carolina Core requirements.
Faculty and administrators are reminded that college and school curricula as well as academic program curricula (for the major) should be reviewed and revised by November 2012 to fit with the new Carolina Core.
