Assistive Technology Planner
This National Assistive Technology Research Institute (NATRI) kit contains tools that IEP teams can use when considering, selecting and implementing AT for individual students. The Assistive Technology (AT) Planner is designed to support teachers, families, and administrators as they work in collaboration with other IEP team members in planning and implementing assistive technology (AT) services. The AT Planner both inexpensive and research-based. The planner consists of 3 separate booklets for:
- teachers
- families
- administrators
In addition to the 3 booklets, it is accompanied by a user's guide that contains a reproducible AT implementation plan form that can also be found free on the web (http://natri.uky.edu/resources/ImpPlanform060807.pdf). By formalizing an implementation plan, IEP team members are able to make expectations clear, designate responsibilities and identify required supports. The AT Planner creates the documentation necessary for IEP team accountability.
In addition, the AT Planner is available in a Spanish translation free on the NATRI wehsite.
The product has received two awards to date:
- 2006 Gold Spotlight Award by the League of American Communications Professionals. It was named as one of the Top 100 Communications Materials.
- 2006 Gold Marcom Creative Award. The AT Planner received the Gold award as it was judged to exceed the high standards of the industry norm.
The AT planner is available through the Technology and Media Division of the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) at http://www.tamcec.org/publications/planning-tools/ . The price: $39.00, plus shipping and handling. Individual teacher, administrator, and family planners are available for $12.00 each, plus shipping and handling.
