Dr. John McFadden

John McFadden, Ph.D., Grace Jordan McFadden Professors Program Director and the Benjamin E. Mays Distinguished Professor Emeritus, is the first African American scholar in the history of the University of South Carolina to be named to an endowed chair. He has authored in excess of 160 professional publications and has made over 250 research and scholarly presentations throughout the world. Dr. McFadden has held a number of administrative positions at USC, including Associate Dean of the College of Education and Senior Vice President for Intercultural Affairs and Professional Development.

Among his books are Transcultural Vignettes for Helping and Management Professionals, Challenges of Cultural and Racial Diversity to Counseling, Discipline and Classroom Management, Counseling-Parenting-Teaching, Counseling and Teaching: Identity versus Assimilation. His book, entitled Transcultural Counseling, entered a second edition. Dr. McFadden is an international authority on stylistic counseling and transcultural counseling.
