1.   Is an undergraduate degree in economics or finance required for admission?

No. Students enroll with a variety of academic backgrounds. However, students who do not have an undergraduate degree in business or economics may have to satisfy some additional coursework.

2.  How long does it take to complete the Master of Arts in Economics degree program?

The MAEcon program requires a total of 30 credit hours of course work; the necessary course work can be completed in 12 months. Students in the Thesis Track are required to complete 24 credit hours of course work, plus six hours of thesis preparation. The thesis can be completed within 12 months, but it is not unusual for it to take a little longer. Anyone required to take any prerequisites may also take a little longer to complete the degree.

3.  Can the Master of Arts in Economics be pursued on a part-time or evening basis?

Yes. It is possible to pursue the degree on a part-time basis. Many of the courses are available in the evening; however, we cannot guarantee that all of the classes can be taken at night. This option works best if you have a flexible work schedule.

4.  Is financial aid available? 

Yes. Federal financial aid is available to students pursuing the MAEcon degree. There is also a limited amount of merit-based financial awards available. Students are encouraged to submit all of their application materials by Feb. 1 to be considered for all Moore School financial awards. No additional application is necessary; all admitted students are automatically considered for these awards.

5.  Are international applicants considered for financial aid awards?

Yes. All Moore School financial awards are merit based. International students are not eligible for federal financial aid.
