Jazz String Ensemble

Jazz String Ensemble

Jazz Combo ensembles prepare students for a music career by providing the experience of being part of a real-world working band. Students learn to work together, rehearse and prepare music themselves.

The Jazz String Ensemble is a unique organization with string players playing music traditionally reserved for saxophones and brass players. There are very few groups of this kind anywhere in the world. The ensemble currently consists of two violins, two cellos, piano, bass and drums, with an occasional sax player.

The Jazz String Ensemble is open to students who have completed Jazz Theory I & II and Jazz Improvisation I - IV with a grade of B or better.
