Each spring, University Housing runs the Give It Up for Good program to collect donations from the residence halls as students move out for the summer. The majority of the 30,000 pounds of items collected is sold at a yard sale to benefit Habitat for Humanity. Food and plastic bags are donated directly to Harvest Hope.

The Give It Up for Good program starts Monday, April 27 and runs until Saturday, May 9. Students, faculty and staff can donate clothing, household goods, food, plastic bags, appliances and furniture they no longer need from their residence. Donation centers will be located in the lobbies of most residence halls. Students in the Horseshoe buildings and McBryde will be provided with donation bags to place outside their rooms. Food is donated to Gamecock Pantry and Harvest Hope, and the other items are donated to Habitat for Humanity or sold at the yard sale on Saturday, May 23.

There will be a faculty and staff donation day on Monday, May 18 from 7 a.m.-3 p.m. on the Greene Street Intramural Field. Faculty and staff will be able to drive up and have their items unloaded by a volunteer.

The faculty and staff preview sale is Friday, May 22 from 4-6 p.m. on the Greene Street Intramural Field and costs $5  to attend. The public sale is Saturday, May 23 from 7 a.m.-1 p.m. with a $5 admission fee from 7-8 a.m.
