Jacquline Plyler, a recent graduate of the University of South Carolina, has been announced as the 2015 Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK) National Leader of the Year. ODK is a national leadership honor society that recognizes college students and encourages superior scholarship, leadership and exemplary character.

The General Russell E. Dougherty National Leader of the Year Award is given to a student who has shown the greatest dedication to all five phases of campus life celebrated by ODK: athletics, community service, performing arts, mass media and scholarship. Plyler, a biomedical engineering major, maintained a 3.96 GPA and held leadership positions in a plethora of academic and service organizations on campus. She was an athletic enrichment tutor, the vice president of Gamecock Toastmasters, president and founder of the Gamecock Pre-Veterinary Association and president of ODK, just to name a few. With this involvement, Plyler also won the individual leadership award in the phase of campus and community service.

Each recipient will receive a scholarship to support graduate studies and a $300 grant. Plyler’s extensive resume of community involvement accompanied by her excellent scholarship and character truly shows that as a fellow Gamecock she continues to have no limits.

This spring Plyler was honored as the university's Outstanding Woman of the Year.
