Grant Basics Workshop for graduate students and postdocs offered in October

The Office of Research is pleased to announce a new, comprehensive workshop designed to prepare graduate students and postdocs to write competitive grant proposals. The Grant Basics Workshop will cover strategies for grant writing success and provide guidance on how to develop a grant budget and justification. In addition, a panel of past SPARC and ASPIRE IIB faculty reviewers will discuss the proposal review process from the perspective of the reviewer.

The Grant Basics Workshop will be offered on Wednesday, October 21 from 1:00 – 4:30 pm in the Russell House Theater. Additional details about the session will be added to this page in the coming weeks, so check back often for the latest. 1:00 – 2:15 p.m. Grant Writing Strategies for Success
2:15 – 3:15 p.m. Developing a Grant Budget
3:15 – 3:30 p.m. Break
3:30 – 4:30 p.m. Discussion with Panel of Faculty Reviewers:

  • Tony Jarrels, English Language and Literature Department, College of Arts and Sciences
  • Fabio Matta, Civil and Environmental Engineering Department, College of Engineering and Computing
  • Michael Wyatt, Drug Discovery and Biomedical Sciences Department, South Carolina College of Pharmacy

Registration for this workshop is encouraged but not required. By registering ahead of time, students will ensure that they will receive content updates, and enjoy a speedy sign-in process at the workshop. If you register for the workshop, but are later unable to attend, you do not need to notify the Office of Research that you won't be attending.
