TRIO can help you whether you're attending the University of South Carolina now or want to attend any college after high school. Our programs and experienced staff can help you turn your college and career dreams into real-life success.

What is TRIO?

TRIO programs around the country offer first-generation students from low-income families the personal attention, planning and information to manage their financial constraints, strengthen their academic skills, adjust to the campus environment and set goals that lead to graduation and responsible participation in society.

TRIO provides information, services and support that help students from low-income families and first-generation students — those whose parents have not earned a four-year college degree — prepare for college and reach for their academic goals.

How we help first-generation students.

TRIO provides educational support as early as seventh grade for prospective college students or help adults who seek to complete graduate studies. These services are delivered through four programs — Educational Talent Search, Upward Bound, Opportunity Scholars and Ronald E. McNair — to help students enter college and complete their studies with greater success.

Explore programs that aid first-generation college students from low-income families who are currently pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees.

Need Space for an Event?

The Booker T. Washington Auditorium is available for booking to the USC community and members of the public. The auditorium has a seating capacity for 450 people and may be reserved based on availability.
