Diversity and inclusion
Fort Valley, GA
A Georgia native, I earned my Bachelor's in Business Administration from Fort Valley State University and my Master's in Education Administration from the University of Nebraska. I have worked in higher education for 13 years. I have had the pleasure of gaining knowledge and increasing experience at three different universities prior to landing in Columbia, SC. I served as the assistant director of academics for the past five years in the UofSC Athletics Department. In this role, I made a significant impact in academic advising, career/degree planning, and diversity and inclusion initiatives.
In my current role, I am responsible for implementing a comprehensive diversity recruitment plan and developing relationships with both on- and off-campus groups. I believe that diversity on a college campus is the cornerstone for creating a campus culture that promotes personal growth and cultural engagement. My advice to students would be to step out of your comfort zone, ask questions, and understand that we are here to help you. It’s the Gamecock way!
