Freshman Notification Timeline
It is your responsibility to meet application and supplemental materials deadlines in order to qualify for a decision. Check your UofSC Admissions Portal to see if any required items are still outstanding.
Mid-December: Early Action Decision Notification
Decisions regarding university admission status will be released mid-December for all applicants who fully comply with the October 15 deadlines. Applicants may be admitted, denied or deferred to second review. Students who are selected for second review will be issued their final admissions decisions in March.
Mid-February: South Carolina Honors College Notification
Honors applicants will receive their general university acceptance first, and then a second letter concerning their honors decision. All honors decisions will be released by mid-February.
March: Regular Application Decision Week Begins
Decisions will be released during March for students who applied by December 1 and who meet the February 1 supplemental materials deadline.
Merit-based Scholarship Information: Final notification for merit-based scholarships and Capstone invitations will be sent by mid-March.
Appeal Information: Students may appeal their admission decision if there are supplemental materials that were not available during the application review process, or if there are extenuating circumstances that may have occurred after the application was submitted. For questions about an admission decision or to learn more about the appeal process, please contact the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at 803-777-7700 and ask to speak with an admissions representative.
Non-Freshman Notification Timeline
Students who apply as a non-freshman (transfer, readmit, non-degree or system transfer)
will not be notified on a set date. Instead, each student receives a decision as soon
as their individual application has been processed. The non-freshman admission process generally takes two to three weeks from the time we receive the necessary materials.
It is very important to send all required materials (transcripts and test scores,
if applicable) to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions as soon as you apply. System transfers do not have to submit a UofSC transcript.
