Notification Timelines

After we receive your application and credentials, processing takes some time. But if you met our deadlines, you can count on hearing from us by certain dates. Familiarize yourself with our notification timelines.

Freshman Notification Timeline

It is your responsibility to meet application and credentials deadlines in order to qualify for a decision. Check your UofSC Admissions Portal to see if any required items are still outstanding.

December 9-13: Early Action Decision Week Begins
Decisions regarding university admission status will be released on or before the week of December 13 for all applicants who fully comply with the October 15 or November 15 deadlines. Applicants may be admitted, denied or chosen for secondary review. Students who are selected for secondary review will be issued their final admissions decisions the week of March 9.

Mid-February: South Carolina Honors College Notification
Honors applicants will hear about their general university acceptance first, and then will receive a second letter concerning their honors decision.

March 9-13: Regular Application Decision Week Begins
Decisions will be released during the week of March 9 for students who applied by December 1 and who meet the February 1 credentials deadline.

Non-Freshman Notification Timeline

Students who apply as a non-freshman (transfer, readmit, non-degree or system transfer) will not be notified on a set date. Instead, each student receives a decision as soon as their individual application has been processed. The non-freshman admission process generally takes two to three weeks from the time we receive the necessary materials. It is very important to send all required materials (transcripts and test scores, if applicable) to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions as soon as you apply. System transfers do not have to submit a UofSC transcript.
