The Derek Royal Collection consists of not only Dr. Royal's personal collection of comics, but also materials acquired for the Comics Alternative podcast. Beyond comic books and bound compilations, the collection includes a variety of graphic novels from the 2010s, small and independent press titles, scholarly books about comics including resources for comics and Jewish studies, convention specific comics materials, and scarce self published titles. Included in the collection are Dr. Royal's personal copies of important works like Watchman, with Dr. Royal's teaching and research notes.
