Service History: US Navy Corpsman. Served on active duty from 2008 to 2018. Transferred from MTSU in Murfreesboro, TN to the University of South Carolina-Columbia in May 2020 as a student Veteran.

Education: B.A in Criminology/Criminal Justice with a minor in Social Work (2022).

Originally from Gresham, Oregon, Ben enlisted in the United States Navy as a Corpsman shortly after graduating high school in 2008. Ben’s last deployment was with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) with 1st Battalion 1st Marines, as a platoon Corpsman for a small boat reconnaissance company intended to conduct small action raids for the battalion landing team in support of Maritime operations. Additionally, as well as humanitarian and diplomatic operations as the premier crisis response in the Indo-Pacific region. Ben currently serves as the benefits coordinator for VA education benefits and is a school Certifying Official. Ben recognizes the difficulty for Veterans and their dependents in navigating their benefits with the VA and he offers his support to USC Veterans and Military affiliated students by educating students on the ins and outs of their various educational benefits.
