Campus Safety Status

Alert Level: New Normal

The overall campus alert level has returned to normal. The combination of required monthly testing (supported by effective contact tracing and now vaccine deployment) paired with disciplined use of risk mitigation/public health practices among the campus community is enabling us to quickly identify and respond to COVID-19 at UofSC, and we strongly encourage getting vaccinated as soon as your schedule permits. Complacency, however, risks new increases in infection rates. Regardless of your vaccination status, your ongoing use of good public health practices – wearing a mask, washing your hands and watching your distance – is required, as is limiting unnecessary social interaction (especially evenings and weekends). Our active use of these public health practices is the foundation for our success, so let’s finish strong together. Until you are fully vaccinated, required monthly testing is still in place. Please consult our testing website for details. Finally, as Gamecocks, we have a responsibility to the greater Columbia community, so always abide by local public health policies and ordinances and thank you for holding true to the tenets of the Carolinian Creed in all that you say and do. Updated April 12 at 9 a.m.

No appointments necessary for a pop-up vaccination clinic this Wednesday, April 14, in partnership with Lexington Medical Center. Simply bring your ID to the Carolina Coliseum concourse (opposite side from COVID-19 testing) between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., and receive the Pfizer vaccine. The second dose will be administered on May 4.
Vaccine appointments will continue to be added to MyHealthSpace as doses become available, and those who are eligible for the vaccine should also check the SCDHEC Vaccine Locator for availability in the community.
