Dr Noah Gardiner will deliver the first lecture in the new Religious Studies Practicing Humanism series. In the talk entitled “Mysticism, Magic, and Manuscripts: Challenges in the Study of Sufism and Occult Sciences in Medieval Islam. Professor Gardiner will discuss elements of his current book project on the 13th-century Sufi Ahmad al-Buni, a key thinker in the “magico-mystical” Islamic tradition of the Science of Letters and Names. The talk will be held on October 23, from 2:30 to 4:30-6 pm in Petrigru 213. Drinks and snacks will be served. All are welcome!!
