Professor John Mandsager recently traveled to London to present his paper, “Classification, Ontology, Ambiguity, and Hybrids: The Rabbis Attempt to Map the Natural World,” at an international conference hosted by University College London’s Institute of Jewish Studies.
The conference, “Popularization” of Knowledge? Circulation, Spill-Over and Adaptation of Scientific and Medical Expertise in Premodern Cultures, was jointly sponsored by the RFE Network on Ancient Medicine and Sciences, which includes researchers from the University of Tübingen, University College London and Freie Universität Berlin.
