Religious Studies Lecture: Marko Geslani on SMRTI

The Department of Religious Studies will host a lecture by Professor Marko Geslani as part of the Practicing Humanism Series. His talk, titled “Comprehension and Survival: A Smirti (Remembrance) for Religious Studies,” examines the challenges of studying religion in today’s antsecular, neo-Orientalist and Christian triumphalist contexts.

This event is the second installment in the Spring 2026 series and is held in conjunction with RELG 488: Perspective in Religious Studies. The lecture invites students, faculty and the broader community to reflect on the evolving role of religious studies in contemporary society.

The lecture will take place on April 2 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. in Close-Hipp Building, Room 377.
