  • ROTC Cadets on a Football Field

Our 200 cadets are pursuing their college degrees in over 60 different majors across seven campuses. The Gamecock Battalion supports an academically diverse program, allowing students to reach their personal educational goals while developing leadership and military skills.

During your time with the Gamecock Battalion, you will take one elective and one lab each semester in addition to physical and field training. Because of our location in Columbia, South Carolina, cadets have access to state-of-the-art facilities and ranges at Fort Jackson, the Army’s premier training base. We expect that these courses and trainings, which promote leadership, decision making, cultural awareness and communication, will inform and enhance your other studies at Carolina.

The management skills learned in Army ROTC make our alumni very attractive to employers. Alumni of the Gamecock Battalion serve at least three years in the Army following graduation, depending on scholarship commitments. Some alumni, like Lieutenant General Jim Richardson, continue their service beyond the required years. Other alumni pursue careers in the civilian sector, often holding positions of leadership and service.

Challenge the conventional. Create the exceptional. No Limits.
