How to Apply to USC School of Music

If you want to apply for admission to the School of Music follow this simple three-step process:

1. Contact the School of Music admissions team.

Complete the online form and indicate your interest of study at the USC School of Music.

2. Apply for admission to the university through the University of South Carolina Office of Admissions.

You should apply online for USC. Prospective students are automatically reviewed for USC’s academic scholarships when they submit an application in accordance with USC’s admissions deadlines. Information about tuition and fees.

3. Schedule your date to audition for the USC School of Music.

An audition is required for you to be considered for admission to the School of Music as a music major and for scholarship awards. Auditions are held on Saturdays at USC’s Columbia campus. You should plan to audition even if you have not yet been accepted by the university. While admission into the music program is contingent on admission to the university, your USC application status may be pending during the time of your audition. Current audition dates and audition information.

Students do not need applied lessons to pursue the music minor. Applied lessons for the music minor are in the elective, and not required category. If a student wishes to pursue a minor and take applied lessons, an audition is required.

Transfer students

Transfer students can apply to USC as late as the summer before they plan to attend in the fall, but those students should audition on one of the above dates to be considered for scholarships and admission to the School of Music. An audition is required to be reviewed for admission. Students will not be permitted to enroll in the School of Music without a qualifying audition on record.
