Cello Choir

South Carolina Cello Choir

The American String Teachers Association (ASTA) South Carolina Cello Choir and workshop is for cellists of all ages and ability levels. The annual Cello Choir has taken place every September since it's inception at the University of South Carolina in 1980.

Professionals, amateurs, teachers and students from around the region take part in this musical phenomenon, learning from renowned clinicians and music faculty.

Friday afternoon begins with master classes by guest artists and college faculty for high school and college students. Saturday is a full day of rehearsals and clinics, and a Saturday evening performance of cello choir music closes the event.

The annual event alternates between the University of South Carolina, Furman University, Bob Jones University, Converse College and the College of Charleston.
