Southern Exposure New Music Series continues

The University of South Carolina School of Music continues its Southern Exposure New Music Series with a concert by cellist Matt Haimovitz and pianist Geoffrey Burleson.

The concert will take place at the School of Music recital hall at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 20.

Admission is free and open to the public.

Known as a musical pioneer and one of the worlds greatest living cellists, Haimovitz is acclaimed for his visionary approach, groundbreaking collaborations and innovative recording projects. Haimovitz also mentors an award-winning studio at McGill University in Montreal.

He made his debut in 1984, at the age of 13, as soloist with Zubin Mehta and the Israel Philharmonic. He has since gone on to perform with such orchestras as the Berlin Philharmonic, New York Philharmonic, Boston Symphony Orchestra and Montreal Symphony Orchestra.

Together, with critically acclaimed pianist Geoffrey Burleson, this next concert of the Southern Exposure series will feature masterpieces of contemporary cello music, including works by Claude Vivier, Brian Cherney, Salvatore Sciarrino, Luciano Berio, Pierre Boulez, David Sanford and Elliott Carter.
