USC sponsors create I-T Computer Camp
Twenty Midlands high-school students will be selected to compete to build and take home their own laptop computer at the Create I-T Computer Camp, to be held on four Saturdays: Jan. 15 and Feb. 12, 19, and 26.
Offered by the University of South Carolina and the Consortium for Enterprise Systems Management, the camp is available to freshmen, sophomores and juniors at Midlands high schools. In addition to the computer building, the camp will provide learning opportunities about exciting careers in information technology.
Applications for the camp must be postmarked by Dec. 10. For instructions on how to apply, visit www.HRSM.sc.edu. The application must include academic information and a written essay.
Students and faculty from the university, along with IT-industry representatives, will lead activities surrounding the wide range of career options available and the necessary skill sets needed to succeed.
The goal of the camp is to encourage high-achieving South Carolina high-school students to pursue an interest in careers in information technology.
