Alumnus, Polycom CEO, to discuss industry success
Andrew “Andy” Miller, CEO of Polycom and a 1981 graduate of the Darla Moore School of Business, will return to campus March 2 to meet with students and give a public talk about executive leadership and Polycom’s industry success.
Miller’s talk, titled “$1B to $5Billion, a Technology Company’s Venture to Leadership,” will take place 3:30 – 4:45 p.m. in Lumpkin Auditorium on the eighth floor of the business school.
The lecture is part of the Moore School’s Wachovia, A Wells Fargo Company Lecture Series, which brings top executives to campus. The event is free and open to the public.
Miller has served as Polycom’s president and CEO since May 2010 and became a member of the board shortly after. He joined the company a year before as executive vice president of Global Field Operations, overseeing the company’s sales operations. Polycom is a leader in the unified communications industry, helping people connect through telepresence, video and voice services.
A video and networking industry veteran, Miller has an impressive 28-year track record of technology industry and sales achievement. He was responsible for sales growth at Cisco, where he held several leadership roles in sales and marketing from 1990 to 2001, and Tandberg, where he was CEO from 2001 to 2006. Immediately prior to joining Polycom in 2009, Miller was global president of IPC Information Systems.
He is a former chairperson of the Young Presidents' Organization/Stanford Executive Education Program, a former fellow at the Aspen Institute and a member of the Silicon Valley Executive Summit. He was named among CRN Magazine's Top 100 Most Influential Executives for 2010.
