School of Music announces April schedule

The University of South Carolina’s School of Music will present several guest-artist performances, as well as band and ensemble concerts, for April.

All events are free and open to the public and will be held in the School of Music recital hall, 813 Assembly St., unless noted otherwise.

Choral concerts:

April 13—7:30 p.m.
Carolina Alive concert

April 14—7:30 p.m.
Concert Choir and the University Chorus concert

Bands and ensemble performances:

April 1—7:30 p.m. Koger Center for the Arts
USC Symphonic Winds and University Band

April 12—7:30 p.m.
USC Jazz Combos recital

April 17—USC Historic Horseshoe
USC Bands on the Horseshoe

April 21—7:30 p.m.
Left Bank Big Band concert

April 25—7:30 p.m., Koger Center for the Arts
USC Wind Ensemble

Guest performances:

April 15—7:30 p.m.
JACK String Quartet --
Consisting of violinists Christopher Otto and Ari Streisfeld, violist John Pickford Richards and cellist Kevin McFarland, the JACK Quartet is focused on the commissioning and performance of new works. The quartet also has a keen interest in unusual reworkings of music written before familiar repertoire, including works by Guillaume de Machaut, Girolamo Frescobaldi and Josquin des Prez.
