USC lecture focuses on theology and science

Do people have to make a choice between science and theology?

Not necessarily, says University of Cambridge scholar Dr. Christopher Knight, executive secretary for the school’s International Society for Science and Religion at Cambridge. Knight argues that faith and science are not in opposition to one another. Rather, he says, they are essential components of a full understanding of our existence.

Knight will deliver a lecture, “Theology and Science: Friends or Foes,” March 24 in the Gressette Room of Harper College at the University of South Carolina. The free public lecture is at 7 p.m.

Knight earned a Ph.D. in astrophysics from the University of Manchester, a B.Th. from the University of Southampton/ Salisbury and Wells Theological College and an M.A. from the University of Cambridge.

The lecture is sponsored by USC’s Science and Religion Initiative.
