Bud Light ‘Weego’ creators to claim Cocky Award April 10

The creators of the Bud Light ad that features a beer-fetching dog named “Weego” will be at the University of South Carolina Tuesday, April 10, to fetch the coveted Cocky Award for best Super Bowl commercial in the ninth annual Cocky’s Super Ad Poll.
Dave Reger and Michael Straznickas, creative directors of mcgarrybowen Chicago, will share their stories about the making of the commercial at 12:30 p.m. in the Carolina Coliseum, Room 3001. The event is free and open to the public.
The Cocky Award has become a coveted recognition for ad agencies. Each year, the winning team is invited to the Columbia campus to claim the prize and discuss the development of the commercial. This year will mark the fifth time a creative team has won a Cocky Award for a Bud Light ad.
The Super Ad Poll is conducted by Bonnie Drewniany, a professor in the School of Journalism and Mass Communications, and students in her course on Super Bowl advertising. Each year on Super Bowl Sunday, the students gather to critique the commercials for persuasion, brand identity and likability. The highest scoring ad wins the poll and the Cocky Award.
