TRIO Programs to offer college financial aid workshop

The University of South Carolina TRIO Programs and partners will offer a free financial aid workshop Saturday, Feb. 27, for persons interested in attending college.

The “College Goal Sunday” workshop is set from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the Richland County Public Library on Assembly Street. The workshop is designed to provide financial aid information and assistance in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Financial aid experts and volunteers will help parents and students with financial aid paperwork for any college or university and provide information about financial-aid options and eligibility for grants and scholarships. Participants must bring a 2009 federal income tax return.

“College Goal Sunday” is a collaborative effort of the University of South Carolina TRIO Programs, the South Carolina Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators, the South Carolina Commission on Higher Education and the South Carolina Student Loan Corporation in cooperation with the Richland County Public Library.

Students are encouraged to pre-register online at www.collegegoalsundaysc.org or call Violette Hunter at 803-777-5127 for further information.
